Facebook Launches Ability To Send Self Destructing Messages

Social Networking sites seems to be on a marathon to improve their services.Last week we saw Twitter introducing the ability to download past tweets. Now this week it was Facebook’s turn. This week Facebook launched an app called Facebook Poke which enables the users to send self destructing messages.Self destructing messages are those messages which gets deleted from the receivers phone automatically within a specified period of time.

Actually Poke is not something new in Facebook.Poke is feature which allows you to notify the other person that you are kindoff noticing him.You can poke anyone in Facebook ie you dont have to be friends with someone to poke them.Poke feature has been there for a long time. But rarely used as the site has become more advanced now. This time Facebook has reinvented poke from scratch. The new Facebook Poke allows you to send message,10 second videos, photos or just the ordinary poke to other users. When you are sending a poke you will be asked about the life time time of that poke that is when the poke should destroy itself.

This is not a concept brought forward by Facebook. There exists a popular app called Snapchat, which is really popular amoung teenagers because it allows you send all those kind off your secret images with utmost privacy. There is no way other user can save you photo or video except that he takes a screenshot of it.Even in that case you will be given a notification that other person has taken a screenshot.Anyway lets forget if Facebook copied the concept from Snapchat or not, becase as Steve Job says,”Good Artists Copy,Great Artists Steal”.

You can download Facebook Poke For Iphone here:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/facebook-poke/id588594730?mt=8

The android version of Facebook Poke will be out soon.

So what do you guys think about Facebook Poke?Is this feature really required?Do drop in you valuable opinions here.
